My Sunday Best, Volume 98: Passiontide!

Sunday, March 18, 2018

Happy 5th Sunday of Lent! Otherwise known as Passion Sunday, which begins Passiontide, the last two weeks of Lent. We veiled all our sacred images, which is a great reminder that we're in the home stretch of Lent! It makes Easter even more special, when the statues and icons that were veiled for the past two weeks are unveiled on Easter morning (Andrew unveils them when he gets home from the Vigil Mass). This article explains the practice more fully, if you're curious.

I snuck out under the cover of dark to hit the early Mass solo, since the girls were sick on Friday and I wanted to be absolutely certain we didn't spread any germs to the congregation! Peter was DEVASTATED when I got home and he realized I had been to Mass without him. Poor kid... He'll go to Palm Sunday Mass with Grandma next week and I'm pretty sure he'll be in heaven!

I'm working on final preparations for Easter baskets and feasting - yesterday I grabbed some adorable Schleich animals at our local farm store, one for each kid (looking at prices online, I should've just gone that route, but I've also been trying to support local businesses vs. shopping online, so I'm okay with spending a few more dollars). Are you all done shopping for Easter baskets? Do you need ideas? These books would make a great addition to your library, and it's not too late to order from most of these small businesses! This post also has some good ideas.

If you're finishing up your spiritual reading for Lent and wondering what to read next, we're revisiting the Stories of Grace devotional with Take Up & Read (grown up Easter basket idea?) - I didn't do the children's version with the kids in the fall, and am planning on printing it this time around. I've read through it and it's really incredibly sweet, and I'm looking forward to using it with the older kids come April! This will fill the gap before the next Take Up & Read study begins, and I'm really excited about that one... It's in the final stages of editing and is absolutely gorgeous, with an awesome children's version to accompany it! The group study starts on Mother's Day and we're all looking forward to beginning. Do you see that beautiful cover art below? I'll definitely update you when it's available for sale.

In My Sunday Best news, Easter will mark the 100th volume of this link-up, and I'm going to go out with a bang - that'll be the last regular My Sunday Best blog post & link-up. I'll still be posting over on instagram, and will do seasonal or monthly roundups here, but it's become too stressful to try to get a post together each Sunday, so I'll be stepping it back a little.

Your turn!

Post your outfit details & links or not, regale us all with your children's antics, reflect deeply on the readings, or just do a straight picture post - anything goes as long as you actually wore your outfit to church. The link-up is open until Friday, so you've got plenty of time to add your post!

Just a few ground rules before you link up:

1. Please include a photo of what you wore to church this week.

2. Please link back to this post in the body of your post, so your readers know where to find other posts (posts not mentioning "My Sunday Best" or not linking back to this post will be subject to removal).

3. Please visit some other posts in the link-up & leave a nice comment - this is all about affirming each other and building community, not just link dropping :)

4. Make sure the link you add is a link to your specific post or instagram picture (hashtag #mysundaybest and mention me in your caption, @rosiehill425 so I don't miss it!), not just your blog address.

5. Enjoy, and thanks for linking up!
